Tuition Fees
Tuition fees to study in Europe at distinguished Italian institutions will vary for different programs. To help you understand better, the cost of attending the University of Milan is between €3500 to €4500, while a University of Ferrara degree will cost you in the range of €2000 to €3000.
Scholarships
International students planning to study abroad in Europe can avail of various scholarship options from the Government, institutions and private entities in Italy if they choose the country as their destination.
International students with demonstrated financial constraints pursuing higher education in participating Italian institutions under the Right to Study program can approach the designated regional office for tuition fee waivers, free accommodation, free meals, and such aids.
EDISU Piemonte Scholarships are open for all students pursuing programs across levels at the Politecnico of Torino, the University of Torino, or the University of Eastern Piedmont. These are both merit and need-based aids, open for EU and non-EU students, and awarded after considering several conditions.
The University of Padua offers an International Excellence Scholarship to exceptional incoming students enrolling for English-taught bachelor’s or master’s degrees at the institution. The award covers tuition fees and a subsistence allowance of €8,000.
Bocconi University offers merit-based International Awards to students enrolling in bachelor’s or master’s programs in science discipline. The scholarship covers an annual tuition waiver of up to €13,000 for bachelor’s and €14,000 for master’s programs.
The Politecnico de Milano Merit-Based Scholarships for International Students are awarded to outstanding students pursuing a Master of Science program. The awardee does not have to pay any tuition fee except for an administrative charge of €200 besides receiving a yearly allowance of €5,000 to €10,000.

Full-time degree students holding a valid residence permit can work for up to 20 hours a week while school is in session and for 40 hours a week during holidays.

Italian law doesn’t specify any minimum wage in the country.
Non-EU/EEA students in Italy can request a conversion of the residence permit for study into a residence permit for awaiting employment after the completion of their postgraduate program in the country. Such a converted visa will have a validity of 12 months, and allow candidates to work part-time up to 20 hours a week while they seek full-time employment in Italy.
Once you land a full-time job in the country while holding a temporary work permit, the prospective employer must apply for your Italian work permit before you can join as an employee.
International students who have stayed in Italy continuously for at least five years and are employed full-time with an Italian organization in the country may apply for a PR.

How To Apply to Study in Europe at an Italian University
- Undergraduate Degree – Should have completed your high school education and have a school-leaving certificate to show.
- Postgraduate Degree – A related Bachelor’s degree of at least three years.
- Doctoral Degree – A related master’s degree. Present a research proposal, if asked for.
To study abroad in Europe at Italian Universities, you must submit a pre-enrolment form online through the www.universitaly.it portal along with scanned copies of your

If your pre-enrolment application is accepted, you will receive a Letter of Academic Eligibility and Suitability (Dichiarazione di Valoro or Declaration of Value) following which you can complete the enrolment process at your preferred Italian institution and start the visa application to study in Europe.
Please note that the pre-enrolment process is typically applicable for non-EU students. EU students can apply directly to the Italian university of their choice. Further, non-EU students are required to clear an admission test for most programs in Italy. The university may also ask applicants to attempt an Italian language test (CILS, CELI) as part of the application process.
