Tuition Fees
Like any other country, fees structure varies depending on the university, location, course level, field of studies etc. However on an average you can expect to pay anywhere between 8,000 to 20,000 Euros. This might be on a bit higher scale if there are any other factors involved like getting a degree from partner universities, placement, internship options etc.
Scholarships
The most in-demand scholarship options for international students opting for Spain as their study-in-Europe destination are:
EU funds the participation of shortlisted candidates from across the world in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Programs. The award covers tuition fees, monthly allowance, travelling and insurance costs of the awardees. The grant amount ranges from €4,500 to €9,000 a year.
International students planning to pursue independent research in Spain and having at least 3 years of full-time relevant professional experience can apply for the Fulbright grant of around €4000.
The University of Barcelona awards international students who have enrolled at the institution and have an average GPA of 8 or more in their secondary level of education an academic fee waiver of 20% for all approved degree programs.
A merit-based scholarship program for outstanding postgraduate students at the institution. Applicants should have completed the admission process and paid 25% of the fees to be eligible to apply for the program. Further, the awardees must complete an administrative or academic project while studying at the institution. The grant covers up to 25% of the tuition fees. The EADA Scholarship for Excellence covers up to 50% of the tuition fees.
Meritorious international students from developing countries holding an undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering and a TOEFL score of 90+ or IELTS score of 6.5+ can apply for the scholarship. The awardee will receive tuition fee waivers of up to 25% to 100%, depending upon their academic merit. Exceptional candidates may also get limited fully-funded scholarships.

You may work up to a maximum of 30 hours a week as you study abroad in Europe at Spanish universities, provided the work is relevant to your area of study.
You will need a work permit, applied for by your employer at the local immigration office before you can start your part-time job. However, if you are interning as a part of your curriculum, you wouldn’t need a work permit.

In Spain, there is no stipulated minimum wage but international students working part-time in the country can expect to earn anything between €8 – €20 an hour.

International students who have studied in Spain for three years or more can apply for a post-study work visa after graduation to stay back and seek employment opportunities in the country for a year. Students must apply for this transitional visa 60 days before the expiry of their student visa. However, during this period, they are not allowed to work.
Once you secure a job offer valid for a minimum of one year and paying you at least €650 a month, your employer must apply for a renewable work residency at the local Foreigner’s Office on your behalf. The request takes approximately 90 days to process.
You can also apply for a temporary residence permit if you have a high-growth freelancing business plan worth more than the Spanish minimum wage after expenses (€6,948.24 a year), showcasing pre-signed contracts with valid clients in the country.

How To Apply at Spanish Universities to Study in Europe?
- Apply through the Spanish National University for Distance Education (SNUDE).
- Receive a Credencial de Acceso certificate upon successful review of their application.

Visa Guidance to Study in the Spain
In Spain, for study programs of less than 3-month duration, you may require a Schengen Visa, depending upon your nationality.
To attend a full-time degree-awarding program longer than 6 months or participate in a training or non-remunerated internship, you would need a long-term Study visa.
Please note that you cannot apply for a long-term study visa while in the country on a short-stay visa type. Further, you cannot change the visa type once you arrive in the country on a Study Visa. Study Visa Application Fee is: €80 – €90.
You will need the following supporting documents for your visa processing:

- Passport with validity date till at least the intended duration of study

- Acceptance Letter from a Spanish University
- Previous Academic Records
- Evidence of Medical Insurance
- Police Verification Document to Certify No Criminal Record

- Proof of Financial Sufficiency to Sustain During the Stay in Spain
- If sponsored, a letter of sponsorship along with proof of financial sufficiency of the sponsor and a copy of their passport.
Visa Processing Time:
One month. However, the decision-making period may be extended if additional documents are requested or you are asked to appear for an interview.
Within a month of arrival in Spain with a long-term Study Visa, you must apply for a Foreigner Identity Card at the Foreign Nationals’ Office or the nearest Police Station in the province for which the permit was processed.
For study periods within 6 months, the visa is valid for the entire duration and you are not required to obtain a Foreigner Identity Card.

Yes, international students must clear the selectividad, formally known as EBAU (Evaluación del Bachillerato para elAcceso a la Universidad) to be considered eligible for university admission in Spain. You can appear for the test twice a year in your home country.
The EBAU exam has four sections, namely, Spanish Text Analysis, History of Spain or Spanish Philosophy, Foreign Language (French, English, German, Portuguese or Italian), and Subject-based Section depending upon your interest (Science and Technology, Art, Fine Art, Dance and Music).

According to Spanish visa regulations, you should have at least 100% of the monthly minimum in Spain (IPREM) for the entire period of your intended stay in the country. The current IPREM is approximately €600 a month. So if you have enrolled for an 18-month program, you should have €10,800 (€600 x 18 months) in your bank account to get your visa processed. If you can demonstrate a confirmed accommodation reservation in the country for the study period, the required amount in your account could be less.
